Frequently Asked Questions
How does it work: We refer to our service as "Fixed Wireless" and have tower locations with equipment that broadcasts a signal similar to cell phone service. However, our signal uses a higher frequency then they do and requires an unobstructed view to our tower.
How does it compare to satellite Internet: Satellite services have to travel great distances for their signal and therefore generate a latency in their signal transmission. This latency has an affect on how fast the data is sent/received creating some applications to buffer. Weather can also present transmission issues, but their advantage is...that as long as you have a clear line of sight to the south they can provide you service. Fixed wireless has minimal latency, as the signal is only traveling a few miles and is usually unaffected by weather.
Installation process: Once a technician has determined that service will work at a location... they will install a CPE (Customer Premise Equipment) on the exterior of the building that will provide the best signal quality. Then a cable will be ran from the CPE to a termination point inside the building where a power supply will be placed and is usually near the customer supplied router or computer.
How long does the installation take: A standard installation normally takes about 2 hours.
What is a standard installation: Our goal is to optimize the signal, while concealing our equipment to the best of our ability. We will install necessary CAT 5e cabling from our exterior equipment through ONE wall to a termination point at the customer’s computer/router. The point of penetration to the building will be sealed with appropriate sealant and cabling will be securely fastened to the exterior of the building. Fishing cabling through attics, crawl spaces, and walls is NOT part of a standard installation. A wireless router can be used to connect additional computers in other rooms. It is the customer’s responsibility to provide electrical surge protection for their equipment.
Contracts: We do not require contracts.
Payments: First month service and installation fee is due at the time of installation. A credit card will needed for payment and monthly recurring payments for service.
Router setup, security, wireless: We will assist with router setup.
Billing cycle: Payment for service is in advance and Is due monthly from the date of initial installation.
